In 2005 Ella Du Plessis won the event
ahead of Martti Ahtisaari Primary School. In 2006 the event was won
by DHPS and in 2007 Ella Du Plessis took their title again. The chess coach for
the Ella Du Plessis team was Max B Nitzborn who decided together with his
brother Josef Nitzborn, during 2007 to start The Weekend Chess Academy.
The event was won by Kolin Foundation
Secondary School in 2008 and the Zandell Chess Academy won the 2009 event and
followed it up the next year winning it twice. TWCA decided to take the crown from them in 2011, but Zandell Chess Academy did not have a team to participate so TWCA dominated the other teams and won it in 2011. In 2012 there were no School
Teams chess and TWCA remained unchallenged that year. However, in 2013 the TWCA
team showed why they are also known as The Winning Chess Academy by winning it
for a second time. This time its closest rival did participate and TWCA cement it domination in juniors chess by winning it for a second year. To confirm that they are still the best of the best TWCA
traveled to Gobabis 14 June 2014 and won the event a record 3rd time. TWCA also
plans to win the event again in 2015.

Some interesting fact about this
years result. TWCA was the only team with a balanced gender representation,
with two boys and two girls. No other team has ever done it in this fashion.
Chess for fun, chess to win!!
