DANTE BEUKES AND IMMANUEL GARISEB EXCELS AT THE KEHAT BEUKES MEMORIAL 2014

Whenever a student of TWCA enters a chess tournament a demonstration of chess skill is expected and they hardly disappoint. The Kehat Beukes Memorial was held at the Thuringerhof Hotel and young and old were invited to participate.

Dante Beukes, won the best Cadet Prize and Immanuel Gariseb won the Best Junior Prize. We are very proud of their achievements and hope to see greater chess mastery in 2015.

IMMANUEL GARISEB WON THE WEEKEND CHESS ACADEMY CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR A FORTH TIME

Saturday, 29 November 2014, The Weekend Chess Academy hosted its Annual Chess Club Championships at the Thuringerhof Hotel. Immanuel Gariseb won the club championship of TWCA for a record forth time. Immanuel has grown into a formidable force on the chess board and has shown once again why he deserves the gold. He had a perfect score of 7/7.

In second place we have 11 year old Dante Beukes who scored 5/7. Dante, is another remarkable chess player. He defeated his senior club members and edge out William Kamberipa with the Direct encounter tiebreak to take the silver medal.  We are keeping a keen eye on this young star at TWCA and foresee a Grandmaster in the making.  

William Kamberipa also scored 5/7, but could only get the Bronze medal as Dante Beukes defeated him in their direct encounter.  

Nicola Tjaronda a A Student at Jan Mohr Secondary school took the best girl prize. Josef Max Hoabeb took the best cadet prize.

After the prize giving the students where also rewarded for their excellent performance during 2014. Each received an award  certificate of excellence.
