TWCA Students became the youngest Chess Masters in Namibia - Congratulations!

The August School Holidays served as an opportunity to gain more chess mastery for young chess players. Namibia was invited to participate at the African Schools Individual Chess Championships 2015 in Gabarone, Botswana from 22-29 August 2015.

Namibia send a contingent of 15 players to participate in 5 age groups under 9, under 11, under 13, under 15 and under 17.

Dante Beukes only 12 years old came second overall in his age group and earn two awards. He became a Candidate Master and got a silver medal. He is in fact the youngest Candidate Master of Namibia.

Nicola Tjaronda only 16 at the time came third overall in her age group and also earn two awards. She became a Woman's Candidate Master   and got a bronze medal. She is the youngest Woman's Candidate Master of Namibia.

Congratulations Chess Masters, you deserve these awards. You dedicated many hours and worked hard to achieve. May you continue to achieve.

We can only celebrate such achievements. It was a first for Namibian scholars to bring back medals from an African Continental Event.
