Tibor Trepper is the 2015 TWCA Chess Champion

It was one of the most interesting battles at TWCA this year. Our students usually call out each other to a good game of chess. At times its to proof mastery, sometimes its for the right to use the wooden board.

The club championship was as fierce as any chess battle you would find a TWCA student at. Yes, they battle until the bitter end. Draws is a rarity at TWCA. You got to proof its a draw or else its schachmatt.

Before the event there was speculation as to who would win it this year. Everyone of the Pro Level wanted to win it badly.

At the end it was Tibor Trepper, a veteran and multiple national medalist, who won the event with one round to spare. He scored 6.5/7 meaning he did not lose a single game, won 6 and drew 1. He was 1.5 points ahead of the rest. It was great to see that years of dedication came full circle for this young chess star of TWCA.

In second place we had the 12 year old CM Dante Beukes, who recently got his Chess Master title with 5/7. He was followed by Matjiua Kajovi, with 5/7, but had the better tiebreak to take silver and Matjiua had to settle for Bronze.

The best girl was Jamie-Nicole, who started playing chess only this year in January. She edged out long timer Kamuiua Hipaku, to take the best girl prize for 2015 with 2.5/7. Kamuiua came second with 2/7.

Congratulations to the champ Tibor Trepper, and all the other medal winner. Tibor also won a  two hour training session with International Master Robert Gwaze, and was excited to have these private sessions. You are all stars.
