BREAKING NEWS: FM Dante Beukes became the youngest Namibian Chess Champion

Dante Matthew Beukes, only 14 years of age won the 2017 Namibian National Chess Championships. The youngest Namibian Chess Champion for Namibian men ever. He is indeed a history maker in Namibian chess circles. He has a very humble and modest demeanor whether losing or winning a chess game and always willing to learn and improve.
      Fltr: NCF President: Mr. Nakapunda,
CM Charles Eichab 2nd
FM Dante Beukes 2017 Champion
and 3rd Place Goodwill Khoa

Dante scored 7/9 games. He clinched the title with 2 draws, and six victories and the important victory over the former champion to make sure there is no doubt that he is the best player in Namibia. Dante had a rating performance of 2137 and played in the strongest field with a rating average of 1950. This meant that he performed higher than all his opponents rating average.

What makes his achievement much more rewarding is the fact that the format has been changed to an all play all round robin event after an equally tough qualifiers event earlier this year where he came second. In 2nd place was former Namibian Champion Charles Eichab also with 7/9 but his direct encounter with Dante resulted in a loss which placed him second. In 3rd place we have Goodwill Khoa with 5.5/9.

Tie Break3: The greater number of victories

All the winners in both sections:
Patience, Charles, Lishen, Dante, Kamatuua,
Goodwill and NCF President Otto Nakapunda

In the B-Section WCM Nicola Tjaronda came first with 5.5/9 to clinched the winning trophy and qualified for next years closed women chess championships.

This event has set a precedent for future chess championships which can only be more competitive. The first 3 winners of this event, the winner of the B-Section and the highest rated active player has qualified for the Namibian National Closed Chess Championships in 2018. They do not have to play in the qualifiers for 2018. The event is also a FIDE rated event and the players who performed well will certainly gain much deserved rating points.
TWCA Represented! Awesome!

Congratulations to all the winners. You are all stars.

Dudley Noreseb and Ottilie Hinda won the 1st TWCA Classical Chess Tournament

Dudley has been on the rise ever since he started at TWCA three years ago. He loves the French Defense and has made it his business to know all the nuances of this venerable opening. Dudley scored perfect with 5/5 to clinch his first event at TWCA. This is not his first achievement. He scored perfect 7/7 earlier this year on Board 4 for TWCA at the School Teams Chess Championships. He is indeed a dedicated hardworking student of the game. Couple this with his smarts and you have a champion.
2nd Place Keisha, Dudley Champion and 3rd Place Uatjiri

In second place we have Keisha Van Wyk with 4/5 taking home the silver medal and prize money. Keisha is actually a primary school learner but performed exceptional to clinch the second spot. In third came another Primary school learner, Uatjiri Hewicke with 3/5 grabbing the bronze medal.

3rd Place Lilian, Ottilie PS Champion and 2nd Place Daniel
In the primary section we had WCM Ottilie Hinda, who needs no introduction with 3/5. She scooped the Trophy and gold medal in the Primary School section. In second spot came Daniel Mouton with 2/5 taking home the silver medal. In 3rd place we got Lilian Jansen with also 2/5 games. The Primary school learners had to tough it out with the High School participants which made every point scored an achievement on its own.

Well done to the Brother and Sister duo, Dudley and Oyo. We are super proud of your performance and progress.

Chess for fun, chess to win!

TWCA Dominates Namibian Schools Individual Chess Championships 2017

Congratulations to all our students for their great achievements the past weekend. How does one describe such performance? " Unmatched"

FM Dante Beukes only 14 years old, played in a higher age group u17 for boys and still scored a perfect 7/7. If there were any doubt of his tenacity and skill, the critics were silenced with his performance. He did not let any opportunity slip. Even when the opponent's thought they played "well" he stayed focused and converted games that looked drawish to the average person.

Daniel Mouton came 2nd taking home the silver medal in the boys u7 & u9 group. A young lad who are on the rise. A definite talent to watch in the future.

Laim and Daniel with NCF President
TWCA Students & Coaches, Dante, Lilian
Max, Jamie, Oyo, Patience and Matjiua.
For Patience Tsues who were the top girl in the u17 age group for girls. There were no competition for her either as she scored a perfect 3/3 and took the gold medal home with pride. Keisha Van Wyk did the same by winning all her games in the Girls u13 section scooping the gold medal with a perfect score of 7/7 and leading with 2 points. This is her second perfect score for this year. In 2nd place taking the silver medal we had Penanjambi Tjipueja with 5/7. Watch this girls she is on the rise and she in improving fast.

Pena and Keisha with NCF President
Then there is WCM Jamie-Nicole Beukes who stayed focus even in challenging positions she kept calm and delivered checkmate in her last game to score perfect too with 5/5. Leading the u7 & u9 girls group by 1.5 points. Lilian Jansen came 3rd in the Girls u7 & u9 section taking home the bronze medal.

WCM Ottilie Hinda did not let her changes slip either when she came 2nd overall in the Girls u7 & u9 section scoring 3.5/5. She scooped the gold medal for the girls u7 section with that performance. Making it 5 gold medals for the TWCA team.

Ellie and Hilton qualified and gave good account of themselves scoring 3.5/7 and 4/7 respectively. Ellie ended at 7th place out of 12 girls and Hilton ended 6th out of 12 boys. Awesome performance for their first Namibia Schools Chess Championships.
