IMMANUEL GARISEB WON THE NAMIBIA NATIONAL CLOSED JUNIOR CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2014

This weekend 18-20 July 2014 we had quite a show at the Windhoek Show Grounds, Presidential Hall. The Students of the Weekend Chess Academy Dominated 3 age groups and excel in another.

The event which pit the 10 best juniors of all the 7 age groups from u/8 to u/20 was won by Immanuel Gariseb and with that he secured his spot in the World Juniors in India this year. He was followed by his teammate also from TWCA, William Kamberipa who scored 5.5/7 to take the silver medal and in third place was Jossy Uapingene.

In the under 18 section Isaskar Hamaseb had a perfect scored and none of his competitors could dent his will to win and as a result he scored perfect 7/7. In second place was Montgomery Gurirab from TWCA with 5.5/7. Ndangi L Tjirare from Paresis scored 5/7 and took the Bronze medal.

Nicola Tjaronda, another star of TWCA and Namibia's Women's Champion made it a double victory and took the gold with 6.5/7. She was followed closely by fellow teammate Tibor Trepper with 6/7, also repeating his feat of the Open event. In third place was Lida-Marie Galitz with 4.5/7.

The under 12 section was well defended by another brilliant mind Dante Beukes from TWCA with a second perfect score 7/7. Dante did not spare any effort and any opponent. There was no mercy and no mistakes. He showed great maturity especially in his endgames and he reaped the rewards.  4 of the medals winners also qualified for the World Youth Games in South Africa later this year and will get National Colors.

Well done to all TWCA Students. Finally, thanks to the other participants for great sportsmanship. We are looking forward to another exciting season in 2015.
